With 52 Days Left Until Another Pending Shutdown, Reps. Duarte and Calvert Return to D.C. to Raise Costs on Their Constituents
Constituents are calling on Representatives Duarte and Calvert to vote against spending legislation that will hurt working families
California – Today, Representatives John Duarte (CA-13) and Ken Calvert (CA-41) have returned to Washington, D.C., where the House will consider several appropriations bills ahead of the January 19th government funding deadline. These bills directly impact Californians on issues such as housing, home heating, food and health care.
Valley Families Unite coalition member and Courage California Executive Director Irene Kao comments:
“It is our sincere wish that Representatives Duarte and Calvert reflect on the struggles their constituents face in providing basic necessities for their families. It's disheartening that both Representative Duarte and Calvert have voted to increase the burden of utility, healthcare, childcare and food costs for their constituents. Working families are struggling with daily living costs while Republicans in Congress have just bought themselves more time to try to cut programs and services that help keep families afloat. Valley Families Unite calls on Reps. Duarte and Calvert to stop playing politics and invest in solutions that help working families thrive.”
