Inland Empire Educators, Parents and Advocates Met to Urge Congressman Calvert to Reject Education Budget Cuts
Lake Elsinore, California – Last week, Valley Families Unite joined educators, parents and community advocates to call on Congressman Ken Calvert to do his part to avert a government shutdown without sacrificing critical funding to education, childcare and other programs working families rely on.
Michelle Singleton, a teacher and parent, said: “With a government shutdown approaching, House Republicans are trying to force through extreme spending bills that would hurt working families while prioritizing corporate and wealthy tax cheats, Ken Calvert has voted for extreme cuts that would raise costs for hard-working Californians, including votingagainst funding for school nutrition programs and cuts that would raise the cost of child care, and take food out of the mouths of women, infants and children. People should know about These types of votes, which would affect the day-to-day costs we all have to deal with.”
As we confront the possibility of a government shutdown, it's crucial to urge Congressman Ken Calvert to prioritize the needs of our communities. These advocates are urging parents to reach out to the congressman’s office and insist that he support funding for education, childcare and other essential programs.
